PILATES
The history of Pilates...

The innovative exercises developed by popular trainer and gymnast Joseph Pilates focus on strengthening of muscles that help you to maintain a symmetrical and revitalized body. There are two main ways of performing Pilates exercises. The first one is floor exercises on a mat using your body weight and is called Pilates Mat work. The second is using specific pieces Pilates equipments that were designed by Joseph Pilates to assist and resist his students through ranges of motion and get them strong enough so they could do the Pilates Mat work properly.

Pilates Apparatus...

Mat Pilates:
Pilates mat work is a series of exercises that are done on the floor. The attention to the flow of movement and to the core muscles is similar as when you do Pilates on the machines, although more core strength is required and it can be more challenging as compared to the exercises performed on the Pilates Apparatus Machines.

Reformer:
The Pilates Reformer helps one establish torso stability and postural alignment while working peripheral limbs in a range of motion. The adjustable springs allow for progressive resistance, which helps to lengthen and strengthen the muscles rather than building bulk. It makes for an effective, no-impact stretching and toning workout that is friendly to the joints.

Cadillac:
Over 80 different exercises can be performed on this piece of Pilates equipment, ranging from gentle spring-assisted sit ups to advanced acrobatics that have one hanging from the upper bars - there's something for all ages and abilities.

Chair:
Deceptively resembling a stylish little stool, the Pilates Chair is one versatile exercise machine. Don't let the word "chair" fool you - it's not necessarily a sit-down workout.

Barrel:
The Pilates Ladder Barrel helps isolate deep postural muscles and challenges the body on all planes of movement.
